Jeanette F. Phillips, 96, formerly of Lakewood, N.Y., passed away at 12:25 p.m. Thursday (March 28, 2013), in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, she was born April 15, 1916, in Lakewood, N.Y., a daughter of the late Joseph and Hulda Eliasson Freed.
In earlier years, she was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, the Lakewood Women's Club, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and Moon Brook Country Club.

Through the years, she enjoyed playing the organ, painting, ice skating, playing tennis and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are a sister, Beatrice Niles of Albany, N.Y.; her nieces and nephews: Jody Dickinson of Youngstown, N.Y., Nancy Niles of Clifton Park, N.Y., John Niles of Ft. Myers, Fla., Gregory Freed of Naples, Fla., and Warren Choate of Williamsport, Pa.; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Oliver H. Phillips, DDS; two brothers: Harry Freed Sr. and Joseph Freed Jr.; and two sisters: Helen Granger and Melva Choate.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Deacon Cathy Smith, chaplain of Hospice Chautauqua County, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
