Patricia J. Hays, 71, of Ellington, passed away Wednesday (March 20, 2013) in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 8, 1941, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Harrie and Martha Saulsgiver Johnston.
Prior to retirement Patricia was employed by Bly-Stone Mattress Company and Falconer school district. She enjoyed cooking, listening to country music, playing slot machines at different casinos, parties and cookouts, cleaning, knitting, and sewing. Patricia had a love for animals, especially her dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Skip Hays, whom she married Nov. 29, 1958; a son, Tom (Lori) Hays of Jamestown; two daughters: Roxanne (Scott) Redick of Lakewood and Susan (Dan) Thompson of Falconer; three grandchildren: Aman-da (James) Tanner of Falconer, Scott (Theresa) Thompson of Fredonia and Morgan Hays of Jamestown; two great-grandchildren: Blake and Melissa Tanner of Falconer; a brother, Terry (Judy) Johnston of Bemus Point, a sister, Betty Sue (Tim) Rhodes of Jamestown.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Sally Verrett; a brother, Robert E. Johnston Sr.; and in-laws Mildred and Robert Hays.
The memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Chaplin Timothy Phelps of Chautauqua County Hospice will offici-ate. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
