Anthony J. Guiffrida, 90, of Jamestown, N.Y., died Monday, March 18, at Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.
Anthony was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Jamestown, the son of Sebastian and Angeline Pinzone Guiffrida.
He attended Jamestown schools and on June 8, 2001, Gov. George Pataki presented Anthony, a World War II veteran, with a high school diploma.

Anthony was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a life member of VFW Post 53. He enjoyed remodeling his home, gardening, travel, geneology, walking the streets of Jamestown and spending time with family.
He was employed as a metal fabricator at Falconer Plate Glass for 32 years, retiring in 1985.
Anthony was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the Navy on July 13, 1942. He served aboard PC 592 and destroyer Davis 395, doing convoy duty in the South and North Atlantic during the war. He was on picket duty off the coast of Normandy at Omaha Beach from June 7-20, 1944. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 24, 1945.
During a 21-day leave, on Oct. 13, 1944, he married his loving wife of 65 years, Lydia Ambrosini who died in 2009.
Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony Guiffrida of Florida; two daughters: Annette Guiffrida of Jamestown and Regina Thornton of Connecticut; son-in-law Paul Thornton; two sisters: Bess Nicosia and Margaret Guiffrida of California; seven grandchildren: Anne Sang of Colorado, Anjule Cooper and Sarah Ragsdale of Florida, Anthony "AJ" Guiffrida of Ohio, Andrew Biondolillo of Jamestown, Nicole Thornton of NYC, and Ian Thornton of Connecticut; four great-grandchildren: Azlan, Lydia, and Arabella Cooper of Florida, and Nebiyu Guif-frida of Ohio; several in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Guiffrida; and two sisters: Anna Vitanza and Carrie Della Maggiore of California.
Anthony and Lydia made many trips to California, Florida and Italy.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Migliore Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, in St. John Roman Catholic Church/Holy Apostles Parish.
