A 17-year-old is being held in the Jamestown City Jail after police say he assaulted his teacher Tuesday afternoon.
Jamestown police officers responded to the Gustavus Adolphus School, 200 Gustavus Ave., at 1:45 p.m.
An investigation revealed the 17-year-old assaulted his 39-year-old female teacher, causing injuries to her hand and back.
The youth was charged with second-degree assault and will be arraigned Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
