HARTFIELD - Charges are pending against a Lackawanna man who was taken to Westfield Hospital following a Saturday morning accident.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies say 75-year-old Joseph P. Mahoney was traveling west on Hartfield-Stockton Road at an unsafe speed when he left the road due to slippery conditions and flipped his car into a steep ditch.
Mahoney was extracted by Hartfield volunteer firefighters and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
During the investigation, a second vehicle driven by Ashley Draggett of Stockton failed to reduce speed for the accident scene causing the vehicle to leave the road and strike a mailbox.
The road was closed for approximately one hour due to the accidents.
