Everett Elverton Carr, 97, of Ripley, N.Y., passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, in Erie, Pa. He was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on May 29, 1915, son of the late John and Ester Westerlund Carr.
A resident of Ripley for more than 13 years, Everett had been employed at Food Marketers Cold Storage in Chicago, Ill., until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Everett enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the American Legion in Ripley, N.Y.
Everett is survived by his daughter, Marie Carr of Ripley, N.Y.; a sister, Lorraine Luce; three grandchildren: Diane Brown of Chicago, Ill., Daniel Brown of Marion, Ind., and David Brown of Elkhart, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Velma R. Akin Carr; a son, Kirk, who died shortly after birth; and two daughters: Helen Carr and Virginia Brown.
No calling hours will be held and the funeral service will be private. Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
