Sharon E. Smith of Falconer passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, peacefully in her sleep, after a long battle with COPD.
She was born April 6, 1943, to Madeline Underwood Hale and Bill Hale.
Sharon was retired from Truck-Lite after 23 years of service and made many lifelong friends there. She loved to travel to California annually to see her children and grandchildren. Sharon was an avid reader and diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She also enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia.

She was a member of the Celoron American Legion and loved to dance there with her companion Dennis Root.
She is survived by two daughters: Wenda Caggiano and Tanya Nielson both of Riverside, Calif.; two sons: Jeff Klawon of California and Phillip Smith of Texas; 10 grandchildren: Jade and Dylan Klawon, Ryan and Davin Nielson all of California, Justin, Katie, Jeremy Smith and Anna Reeves of Texas, and Jerzie and Payton Smith of New York. Also surviving are a stepson Kim Smith and his wife Tabitha, half-sister Beth Ferrintino of Florida, and several cousins she loved. Sharon is also survived by her best friend and companion, Dennis Root and his children Amber Frame and Sean Root; and by her best friend Sue Lanphere who she loved dearly and who was her traveling partner on their "Thelma and Louise" trips to Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Butch Smith and her brothers Tom and Rick Hale.
Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 18 in the Falconer Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 in the Falconer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
