Since 1994, students and educators throughout the United States and Canada have raised more than $172 million in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and families.
The Pennies for Patients is the LLS's program dedicated to teaching students that they can make a difference in the lives of others.
Proudly, Southwestern Middle School is once again participating in the Pennies for Patients program, which started on Feb. 4 and continued until the beginning of March. The students are encouraged to collect and donate pennies and spare change to help fight blood cancers. As an incentive, each grade level whose homeroom collects the most money will receive a prize. In years past, SWMS has donated more than $1,200 to Pennies for Patients.

This year's goal is $1,500, and the students are well on their way of achieving it. Remember every penny counts.
