Chautauqua Opportunities for Development Inc. is offering an informative workshop for budding and established entrepreneurs in Chautauqua County.
Small Business Essentials is a 10-week course covering all issues involved in starting a business and making it successful.

The interactive workshop covers all aspects of getting a new business up and running including creating a business plan, financial planning, filing permits, marketing and insurance. It's suitable for both the prospective entrepreneur and for those who have been in business for awhile and want to review important business essentials.
"We'll show you what it takes to make a business work," said Carol Ford, CODI business development specialist and class instructor. "Having an in-demand product or service is the center of any start-up business but there are many other essential elements needed to achieve success. Anyone taking this course will leave with a solid understanding of crucial business essentials to start and grow a business. They will gain a better understanding of industry, market potential, competition, sources of information and the importance of being pro-active. The class has real world applications specifically designed for micro enterprises."
Class discussions will include, but aren't limited to, self-assessment, professionalism in business, communicating, planning, marketing, required permits, legal issues, cash flow projections, financial tips and insurance issues. There may also be presentations given by area professionals with time afterwards to answer specific questions. The ultimate goal is for each participant to have a completed business plan at the end of the class.
This workshop is suitable for existing and prospective small business owners who wish to sharpen their business skills. The course costs $125, which includes the cost of the workbook and class and instructor time.
Space is limited. To register, call the CODI offices at 661-9430 by noon Tuesday.
