Vivian F. Simmons, 96, formerly of 148 Cole Ave., Jamestown, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, in the home of her daughter, Nancy, in Johnson City, N.Y.
A Jamestown native, she was born Sept. 26, 1916, a daughter of the late George and Ellen Heglund Thornblad.
She graduated from Celoron High School and was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters: Susan (Geary) Frill of Jamestown, Nancy (Albert) Brazinski of Johnson City, N.Y., and Linda (Thomas) Hill of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; eight grandchildren: Michael and Linda Frill, Martin, Kevin and Steven Brazinski, and Jerome Taylor, Daniel and Thomas Simmons; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Hoyt of Gerry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Lester Simmons, whom she married Oct. 5, 1935, and who died Jan. 28, 1988, and a son, Maj. Denis L. Simmons.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick LaDue will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
