SCOTTSVILLE - The Jamestown Lakers Squirt B team ran into the stellar goaltending of Guy Spada en route to a second-place finish at the 15th annual Scottsville March Madness tournament this past weekend.
Spada led the Tri-County Golden Eagles to the tournament championship with a 2-1 win in the title game. Jacob Esposito scored both goals for the Golden Eagles, including the eventual game-winner at the 7:28 mark of the second period.
Jack Brinkley scored from Chase Jones for the Lakers' lone goal.
Jamestown went 3-0 in the round-robin portion of the tournament, winning by a combined 20-3 score.
In the opening game Friday evening, the Lakers beat the Webster Cyclones, 9-1, behind a hat trick from Devin Wolfe. Brinkley scored twice while single goals were added by Trenton Shutters, Cooper Spielman, Will Turner and Chase Jones. Shutters, Spielman and Jones each had two assists while Callum Smith, Josh Cooper and Wolfe each had an assist.
Saturday morning, the Lakers faced their toughest test with a 3-2 win over the Canandaigua Knights. Spielman scored twice with assists from Turner and Shutters. Jones also scored from Brinkley in the win.
On Saturday evening, Jamestown cruised to an 8-0 win over the Monroe County Youth Hockey Ice Sharks. Turner netted the hat trick while single goals were scored by Smith, Shutters, Jones, Brinkley and Spielman. Jones had two assists while Spielman, Turner and Cooper each had an assist in the win.
Aiden Gibbons was the goaltender for all four games.
