ALFRED - Poor shooting was the main reason that the Jamestown Community College's men basketball team ended the regular-season at 13-16 on Saturday.
The Jayhawks shot just 18-of-59 from the field for 31 percent and fell to 4-10 in Region 3, Division II after dropping a 75-59 NJCAA decision to Alfred State.
JCC had a tremendous advantage at the foul line as it made 19-of-29 for 66 percent. In comparison, the hosts were only 3-of-5 for 60 percent.
Tyreek Jewell was a standout for JCC with 26 points and 13 rebounds, including 10 off the defensive boards, where Alfred ruled, 51-38.
Three players for Alfred combined for 64 points with Marquis Chatman hitting 25 points with seven 3-pointers. Jamar White connected for 22 points and Tommy Hutson 17 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists.
Michael Forrest chipped in with 13 points and Calvin Sterling 12 points with 7-of-10 from the foul line for JCC.
The first half showed Alfred holding a 33-27 advantage and in the second half it was the hosts having a 42-32 advantage.
JCC will now play in the Region 3 Tournament later this week.
