Forestville Girls Win Class D Bowling Title

CHEEKTOWAGA - Forestville won the Section 6 Class D high school bowling title with a 5,048 in the girls championships held at Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga.

Silver Creek was second with a 4,914 in Class B while Fredonia was in that same spot in Class C with a 4,793. Tonawanda captured the Class C crown with a 5,136.

Overall, Forestville was 11th, Dunkirk 15th with a 4,985, Silver Creek 17th with a 4,914, Jamestown 19th with a 4,856, Fredonia 21st with a 4,793, Gowanda 31st with a 4,398, Randolph 35th with a 4,220, Southwestern 40th with a 3,713 and Frewsburg 42nd with a 3,542 in the 47-team field.

Kayla Grey of Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Bridget Masiello of Lockport, Haley Carroll of Williamsville South, Melanie Hanson of Maryvale and Alexis Wade of Lewiston-Porter were named to the Section 6 all-stars first team.

Sweet Home shot the best score with a 5,648 and was the overall champions and the Class A champions as well followed by Lockport with a 5,602.

Maryvale took the Class B championship by delivering a 5,445 with Lewiston-Porter second at 5,602.

The boys will compete today at Thruway Lanes.

The next action for the five girls and the championship team is March 2-3 at Strike'n Spare Lanes in Syracuse.
