A Bemus Point woman faces a charge of following too closely after she rear-ended a vehicle on North Main Street in Jamestown.
City police responded to a two-vehicle accident at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Upon investigation it was found that a 2002 Saturn, driven by a Panama man with a passenger from Jamestown, was rear-ended by a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by Susan Bentham, 41, of Bemus Point.
According to police, the Saturn was stopped on North Main Street waiting for traffic to clear to make a left-hand turn onto Ninth Street when Bentham collided with it. The impact pushed the Saturn several feet into a nearby yard and also caused the front seats of the vehicle to collapse. Both passengers refused to be taken to a hospital but received some care at the scene for minor injuries.
The Saturn was totaled and towed away, according to police. Bentham was issued a ticket for following too closely.
