During the business meeting, Jane Winter, council president, announced the date of the Woman of the Year celebration, which will take place March 18 at the Marvin House. The council groups were urged to send their nominations to June Diethrick by Feb. 28. Council members were encouraged to attend the breakfast party on Feb. 23, when the event and former Woman of the Year recipients will be featured.
Members of the Jamestown Interclub Council recently heard a presentation by Jana McDermott, executive director of the Child Advocacy Program. The Marvin House was the host club for the evening. When abuse occurs, CAP coordinates a community response to bring healing, hope, and justice to these children and families. The mission of the Child Advocacy Program is to end child abuse in Chautauqua County.
Ms. McDermott gave information on the Stewards of Children Sexual Abuse Prevention Training program available for adults. She also invited members to the third annual Diamond Dinner Auction at the Chautauqua Golf Club on April 20.
