GENEVA, Ohio - Jamestown native Erin Kling turned out yet another record-breaking performance for the California University of Pennsylvania.

Kling, a Jamestown High alumna, broke her own school record recently at the NCAA Division II Challenge, finishing the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:17.45.

It was a finish that eclipsed her previous record, set in 2011, by over nine seconds.

The performance was good enough for a seventh-place finish in the event, and qualified her for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships later this year.

This was the second event in which she's qualified for the PSAC Championships. Most recently she earned a place in the 3,000 meters when she crossed the finish line in 10:40.71 for 10th place.

Another former Jamestown Red Raider, Lauren Caldwell, put forth a top-flight effort for the St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving squad last week.

Caldwell clinched the lone individual first-place finish, hitting the wall before anyone else in the 200-yard butterfly, for St. Bonaventure in a meet against the University at Buffalo.

In addition to the victory, she placed second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:34.91.

A 1992 Southwestern graduate has coached a high school soccer team in Florida to a state final four.

Dustin Dahlquist, at the helm of the Palmetto High Tigers boys soccer team, has gone 25-1-3 this season with a whopping 18 shutouts.

Palmetto's most recent victory came in the regional title game when Tigers blanked opponent Immokalee, 4-0.

This is the third time the 39-year-old has led Palmetto to the final four, and he was the first coach in county history to take a boys public high school team to the state final four.

In his 12 years as head coach, Dahlquist has taken the squad to the district championship 11 times.

Fredonia State senior Dalton Kashmer (South Dayton/Pine Valley) scored 10 points in a loss to Oswego and led the Blue Devils with 12 points in a hard-fought defeat at the hands of SUNY Cortland.

This season, Kashmer is second on the team in points per game (10.2), third in total points (204), third in rebounds per game (4.3) and is third in minutes, averaging over 28 per contest.
