ALBANY - The Southern Tier Builders Association, The Associated Builders Contractors of the Triple Cities, Inc., The Builders Exchange of Rochester, Syracuse Builders Exchange, Eastern Contractors Association, and the Construction Exchange of Buffalo, congratulate New York state Sen. Joseph Robach on his appointment by Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos as the chairperson of the newly formed Senate Committee on Infrastructure and Capital Investments. The step to form this committee shows not only the Senate's understanding of New York's current infrastructure situation, but also the significance for upstate in resolving the issue.
"(The) news of the newly created Senate Committee on Infrastructure and Capital Investments is long-awaited by the construction community," said the STBA in a news release. "Our state needs to rework its capital spending program to maximize available funding and put a plan in place to address our crumbling roads and bridges. We look forward to Sen. Robach serving as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Infrastructure and Capital Investments, and providing a top-level voice to address long term funding needs for highway and vertical construction."
These six construction associations in New York represent more than 3,000 contractors and construction-related businesses in Jamestown, Binghamton, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and Buffalo.
Their members have been building New York state for more than 100 years and include all types of building and highway contractors, suppliers and industry professionals.
Through the Build NY Online Planroom, the group provides a platform for contractors to view projects out for bid, prepare estimates, keep current on bidding information and efficiently track project changes. Between 3,500 and 5,000 bidding opportunities flow through the Build NY Online planroom each year, including almost all public projects in Upstate New York.
