JHS Showcase Set For Thursday
Jamestown High School will hold its annual curriculum showcase on Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. for incoming eighth-grade students and their parents. Mike McElrath, Jamestown High School principal, will present information on graduation requirements and scheduling in the auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by a mini tour of the school's art, business and technology rooms. For parents of current JHS students, the old gymnasium will be open from 6:30-8 p.m. and will feature information from all subject areas and many clubs.
Library To Create Valentines
SINCLAIRVILLE - The Sinclairville Free Library invites children, young and old, community, youth and church groups to come to the library to make valentines for distribution to veterans from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. There is no charge to participate, and all materials will be provided. Participants are also welcome to make Valentines to take home for friends and loved ones.
Thrift Shop Open This Week
St. Luke's Thrift Shop 409 Pine St., Jamestown, is offering all ladies winter blazers, dresses and skirts at half price. The shop is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Off-street parking is available in the church lot located off East Fifth Street. Proceeds from the shop, which is run by volunteers from St. Luke's Episcopal Church as well as RSVP and the community, are donated to local outreach programs.
JURA To Meet Thursday
The Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency is scheduled to meet Thursday at 4 p.m. in the mayor's conference room on the fourth floor of the municipal building.
Beekeepers To Meet Thursday
The Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown. Topics will include early spring management, dues, an online overview and demonstration of websites and when to order bees. The public is welcome to attend. Next month's meeting will be held March 7.
Holiday Deadline Approaches
YWCA Jamestown's "Valentine's Day: They Stay, You Play" Friday RSVP deadline is fast approaching. Parents can enjoy a night out while their kids enjoy a fun night in that includes a pizza party, movies, contests and more. The fundraising event will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, from 6-9 p.m. for children ages 5-12 at YWCA Jamestown Main building, located at the corner of Fourth and Main streets in downtown Jamestown. Cost is $20 per child. The cost for each additional sibling is $10. To RSVP, call YWCA at 488-2237. All proceeds benefit YWCA programs. Prepayment is required.
