Winter Fest Treasure Hunt Is Under Way

February 4, 2013
The Post-Journal

The Presidents Day Weekend Winter Festival annual Medallion Treasure Hunt, sponsored by The Maple Inn at Chautauqua Institution, officially begins today. The 3-by-5-inch Treasure Hunt Medallion (created especially for the 2006 festival by artist David Stutzman from a naturally shed elk antler), has been hidden somewhere in Chautauqua County on public property. Placed in plastic for its protection from the elements, the medallion bearing the I.C.E. logo is not hidden below ground level and no higher than 6 feet above ground level. It is not hidden on any body of water or in the water. Treasure hunters seek at their own risk. Please note that Winter Festival Committee members as well as last year's winner are not eligible to participate. All previous winners can participate in the Treasure Hunt.
