passed away at 7:16 p.m.
Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2013) in
WCA Hospital.
An area resident for most
of her life she was born
March 22, 1925, in
Kalamazoo, Mich., a
daughter of the late Charles
and Alice Chichester Struble.
Before her retirement
years she had owned and
operated the former Alice
Lee Home for Adults in
Ashville, N.Y. for many
years. She was also a foster
parent, caring for more than
40 children for 20 years
and also cared for the handicapped and disabled
adults for more than 30
years. During the 1950s she
and her husband operated a
restaurant in Ashville, N.Y.
for several years.
She attended the Watts
Flats United Methodist
Church and was
well-known as an accomplished artist, painting
many beautiful oil paintings over the years. She
also taught oil painting
classes and will be remembered for her love of animals, birds and spending
time on the farm.
Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Albert L.
Kent, whom she married
Oct. 25, 1943, in Traverse
City, Mich.; her six children: Sue (Phil) Roller of
Blockville, N.Y., Alby
(Dave) King of Ashville,
N.Y., Cindy (Jack) Lindquist, Bob (Margaret)
Kent, and James Kent all of
Jamestown, N.Y., and John
(Penny) Kent of Panama,
N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren;
and a brother, Charles Struble, of Traverse City, Mich.
Besides her parents she
was preceded in death by
three brothers: Raymond,
Robert and Wayne Struble;
and a sister, Glenna Linderleaf.
A private family service
will be held in the Lind
Funeral Home. The Rev.
Daniel Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the
Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received
from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the
funeral home.
