Sue Penhollow, president, presided at a recent Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary meeting which opened with prayer by Paula Pattison, chaplain, a flag salute, the auxiliary preamble, a moment of silence for fallen soldiers and roll call of officers. Karen Field gave the treasurer's report.
Committee reports included Empire Girl State and the choosing of Alyssa Merrill of South Dayton and Stella Goodworth of Sinclairville of Post 1280 Girls State candidates; children and youth - discussion on the children's Christmas party; and legislation - the Stolen Valor Act.
Under old business, Charyle Tyler, Unit 1280 member Chautauqua County auxiliary president, reminded members about the American flag afghan she made as her president's project. Proceeds from the sale will be split between Warriors Family Assistance and department convention expenses. She also spoke on the 12:30 p.m. lunch on Friday, Feb. 8, in Post 62, Dunkirk, for Tim Van Patton, department commander; Sally Johnson, president; and John J. Knapp Sr., detachment commander. Tyler will also attend the mid-winter conference in Albany.
It was voted to donate money to the Cassadaga Food Pantry.
