BATAVIA - Poor shooting contributed to Jamestown Community College men's basketball team losing an NJCAA Region 3 Division II game Thursday night.
The Jayhawks (2-3, 10-10) hit just 35 percent from the field (25-of-71) while Genesee CC (2-3, 11-10) was making 54 percent (29-54) in a 74-70 win.
Freshman Vaughn Boler was on fire as he made 12-of-18 from the field and 8-of-11 from the foul line for 32 points for the Cougars. Terry Coombs was the only other player in twin digits with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Davonte Dunham was high for JCC with 23 points, Tyreek Jewell had 16 and Michael Forrest 13.
The Jayhawks had a rough time as they hit only 7-of-34 on 3-point attempts.
Dunham picked up five assists and three steals while Jewell had a team-high nine rebounds for the Jayhawks.
The Jayhawks fell behind at halftime, 43-35, but outscored GCC in the second half, 35-31, however, it wasn't enough.
