BATAVIA - Lauren Saglimben provided the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team with a spark Thursday.

''She gave us a big lift,'' said coach George Sisson after Saglimben scored all of her 13 points in the last five minutes of the first half to lead the Jayhawks (14-6, 2-2) to a 68-63 victory over Genesee CC (1-15, 0-5) in the NJCAA Region 3 Division II women's basketball.

JCC was leading just 25-23 when Saglimben went on her run that led the Jayhawks to a 40-25 halftime lead. The Jayhawks went on a 15-2 run with Saglimben scoring all but two points in the final five minutes of the first half.

The Jayhawks tallied the first five points of the second half, making it a 20-2 run and a 45-25 advantage. But GCC started chipping away and got within, 57-53. However, Ashley DePane hit a couple of big 3-pointers down the stretch to keep JCC ahead.

''It was nice to have four girls in twin digits,'' said Sisson about DePane hitting 17 points, Saglimben 13 points, Taylor Storer and Kelsie Beaver with 12 points. ''Storer and Beaver had real solid games.''

Storer also stole the ball five times and had six assists in the win.

Dominique Davis wound up with 20 points for Genesee while teammate Dashawna Jenifer had 22 and Nanase Akagami had 14.

The Jayhawks entertain Alfred State at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
