Harriet L. Apthorpe, 76, of 9 Venman St., Frewsburg, passed away Thursday (Jan, 24, 2013), in her home.
A lifelong area resident, she was born June 2, 1936, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel Hill Schnars.
Harriet was a 1954 graduate of Falconer High School, and prior to retirement was employed by Cummins Engine, retiring in 1999.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, John J. Apthorpe, whom she married Nov. 27, 1987, in Ashville; two daughters: Tammy (Todd) Annis of Frewsburg, and Sherrie Cleland of Frewsburg; a son, Randy Clark of Bedford, Texas; a stepson, Scott (Rhonda) Apthorpe of Ellington; five grandchildren: Tyler Annis (Monica Knoll), Trever Annis, Katie Cleland (Liz and Mac), Cody Cleland and Sierra Clark; four brothers: Harry Schnars of Sugar Grove, Pa., James Schnars of W.E., Jamestown, Leslie Schnars of Falconer, and Charles Schnars of Kennedy.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Greg Apthorpe.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Reese, pastor of Ivory Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
Friends will be received by the family from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
