BUFFALO - Rebounding was a major factor in Jamestown Community College Jayhawks (1-2, 13-6) falling to Erie CC (4-0, 13-4) on Saturday afternoon at the Flickinger Center.
Charmane Weaver and Alexis Gray combined for 24 points and 18 rebounds as Erie CC downed JCC, 77-65, in NJCAA Region 3, Division II women's basketball.
Overall, Erie CC held a 51-40 rebounding edge. Kristin Biela had eight rebounds and Brook Draggett seven for the Jayhawks.
The Jayhawks turned it over 29 times, but were still in the game with 4 minutes left when point guard Taylor Storer became one of three Jayhawks to foul out.
Kelsie Beaver had 21 points, including 15-of-18 from the foul line, Storer added 19 and Ashley DePane 12 for JCC.
JCC went to the charity stripe 38 times and hit 27 while ECC went 43 times and connected on 28 shots.
JCC resumes action on Tuesday against invading Monroe CC at 5:30 p.m.
