Those who missed the Progressive Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular at Jamestown Savings Bank Arena in December can catch it this weekend. NBC will be airing a telecast of the program on Sunday from 4-6 p.m.
Kurt Silcott, CEO of the arena, was very pleased with how the event turned out and feels that the telecast will show the arena in a positive light.
"When they did the event here, after they finished with the live show they did all of the outtakes, which was actually pretty neat," said Silcott. "The gymnasts and the skaters had the chance to come back out and complete any of their jumps or tricks that they might have missed during the live runthrough."
According to Silcott, the show that actually took place at the arena was longer than the scheduled telecast, which will likely be edited to fit in the time slot because of the outtakes.
When asked about future events at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, Silcott was optimistic.
"We have the 'Scooby Doo Live Musical Mysteries' event planned for March already," said Silcott. "We're actually already in negotiations with the Disson Group, who put on the Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular, trying to confirm another show for next year in the same time frame. That discussion is ongoing, but so far all of the talks have been moving along very well. They were very pleased with just about everything that went on here, and we're hopeful that we'll be able to get them to come back."
The arena will also be running specials at Sully's Irish Pub on Sunday during the telecast, which will be shown on the televisions in the pub.
"We think that the people of Jamestown enjoyed the event, and we're really looking forward to the exposure that a national telecast will give us," said Silcott.
