Shovel ready jobs have gone the way of the dinosaur in the U.S.A. These jobs can be brought back. however, to do so, the shackles must be removed from capitalism.
The restraints on business imposed by the nation's legislators was thought necessary because of grumbling coming from government employees. Their wages were below the pay earned in the private sector.
This disparaging differential, following the Second World War, had to be corrected.
It was here where our leaders opened the fabled ''Pandora's Box.'' Unforeseen troubles were released. The jinxed box contained many of the problems that we, as a nation, suffer from today. The legislators in power at the time gave the box a new moniker. A very innocent sounding name, ''minimum wage.''
Minimum wage is little more than another tax. An assessment, a levy, on private sector business and their employees.
When started, minimum wage was meant to be an equalizer, but it soon grew into a money hungry beast. A brute that any government could not contain or keep on a leash.
Minimum wage has fulfilled the words of Karl Marx, who prophesied, ''there is only one way to kill capitalism - by taxes, taxes and more taxes.
