Audubon Presents New Season Mugs

January 16, 2013
The Post-Journal

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the Audubon Center & Sanctuary has a new item in its Blue Heron Nature Store.

In partnership with Whirley Drinkworks of Warren, Audubon staff created a non-splash thermo mug for hot or cold drinks. The mug features photographs of all four seasons at Audubon and Liberty, its non-releasable bald eagle. The photos were taken by Audubon staff as well as Dave Cooney and Suzette Paduano.

"When we were designing it, we thought this mug would be a great gift item," said Ruth Lundin, Audubon president. "Now that it's produced, we know lots of folks are going to want to get one for themselves, too."

There will be a special display of the mugs at Audubon's Snowflake Festival on Saturday, Feb. 2. At the hot bar that day, visitors who bring their own travel mugs can have them filled with Stedman Corners coffee for $1. Those who purchase the Audubon mug will get their first cup of coffee free and refills for $1.

All proceeds from these sales benefit the environmental education programs and maintain the facilities and grounds of the Audubon Center & Sanctuary at 1600 Riverside Road, off Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren.

Winter hours for the Nature Center are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Saturdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. Liberty welcomes visitors daily from dawn to dusk in her outdoor pen. The Sanctuary's more than five miles of maintained trails are also available daily for hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, dawn to dusk.
