HANOVER - A Hamburg man was rescued from Lake Erie on Saturday after police say the kayak he was riding in flipped over 500 yards from shore.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office in a news release said Raymond A. Adamczyk, 46, of Southwestern Boulevard, was allegedly hunting ducks in the town of Hanover with the use of a kayak when he fell into the bay.
The Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team, Silver Creek police, Sunset Bay and Silver Creek firefighters also responded to the incident, which occurred just after 9:30 a.m.
According to the Sheriff's Office, a jet ski from the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Department was launched and made contact with Adamczyk in the water. He was brought ashore and transported to Lakeshore Hospital by Alstar Ambulance for undisclosed injuries.
It's unclear how long Adamczyk was in the water. Police say he was wearing a Coast Guard-approved life vest when his kayak overturned.
