Richard A. Putney, 61, of 157 Euclid Ave., died Jan. 9, 2013, in his home.
He was born June 16, 1951, in Jamestown, the son of the late A. Robert and Lois Woodbury Put-ney.
Rick was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy, Staunton, Va., and Jamestown Community College.
In earlier years, he was employed by the New York State Department of En-vironmental Conservation and the Chautauqua Lake Association. In addition he did landscaping and painting on his own.
Rick enjoyed reading, baseball, and loved time outdoors at his cabin. He loved caring for his grandparents and parents. His greatest joy in life was spending time with and taking care of his grandchildren Holden and Britta, who called him Papa.
Richard is survived by his wife, Christine P. Pace Putney of Jamestown; one son, Taylor J. (Annika M.) Putney of Jamestown; two brothers: Robert M. (LeeLee) Putney of Virginia, and James R. (Janice) Putney of North Carolina.; a sister, Sally Jo (Roger) Whetstein of Arizona; and by two grandchildren: Holden S. Putney and Britta M. Putney.
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Sunday Jan. 13, 2013, in the Migliore Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
