The Lakewood Memorial Library will be hosting the work of fiber artist, Lynn Kinnear, during the month of January.
The exhibit will feature many of the doilies that she has created over the past 12 years. It all started with a visit to a medium in Lily Dale in 1996. Her opening statement was: "I see doilies everywhere. Your grandmother made them and she is asking me to tell you that you should make them as well. Make them in lots of colors - not just ecru."
It took Kinnear five years to heed this advice, but once she started, she has found it impossible to stop. It has been the creative outlet she had been looking for.
When she is not busy crocheting doilies, reading and spending time with her grandchildren she is the director of Smith Memorial Library in Chautauqua Institution. She is very honored to be exhibiting her work in a member library of the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Library system.
There will be a reception at the library on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The display will be available to view through Jan. 30.
The library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
