Turgeon Will Manage Jammers

The Jamestown Jammers and Pittsburgh Pirates announced their minor league managerial and coaching assignments for the 2013 New York-Penn League season on Friday. The announcement was made by Pirates Director of Minor League Operations, Larry Broadway.

Dave Turgeon is set to manage Jamestown in 2013 after managing in State College in the NY-P League for the past two years.

Turgeon was drafted in the 22nd round of the 1987 amateur draft by the New York Yankees. He spent 13 years playing professional baseball in many different countries before becoming a minor league manager.

Turgeon began his professional career in the NY-P League with the Oneonta Yankees.

Turgeon will be joined on staff by hitting coach Kory DeHaan, pitching coach Mike Steele and head athletic trainer Justin Ahrens.

The Jammers open the NY-P League season on June 17 at Mahoning Valley. Their home opener is June 20 against Williamsport.
