Donald J. Anderson, 89, of 342 Derrick Road, Bradford, passed away, Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 28, 1923, in Jamestown, he was a son of the late Arthur E. and Kathryn (Buchsen) Anderson.
On Oct. 8, 1949, in Coudersport, he married Adeline D. (Rickert) Anderson, who survives.

Mr. Anderson was a 1940 graduate of Falconer High School and a 1942 graduate of Bliss Electrical School in Washington, D.C.
In February of 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During World War II, he served with the 104th Timberwolf Infantry Division with the First Army in the European theater, earning three battle stars, Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star meritorious award.
He retired in 1982 from Bell of Pennsylvania, as a service center foreman serving 40 years in the Washington D.C., Kane and Bradford areas.
Mr. Anderson was a 50-year member and past president of the Bradford Lions Club, president for two years of the Bradford Area Golf Association, past president of the Bradford Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America, 50-year member of Eulalia Lodge F&AM 342 of Coudersport, 50-year member of the Coudersport Consistory, member of Zem Zem Shrine Temple of Erie and the McKean County Shrine Club. He was a charter and life member of the Enchanted Mountain Snowmobile Club of Olean, and the McKean Chapter ATV Club.
He was a member of Hill Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the former Derrick City United Methodist Church, where he served as financial secretary, trustee and on various committees.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by two daughters: Barbara (James) Atherton, of West Bath. Maine, and Kathryn (Raymond) Miller, of Bradford, two sons: Kenneth (Christine) Anderson, of Bradford, and Bruce (Martha) Anderson, of Allen-wood; eight grandchildren: Arthur (Elizabeth) Anderson, of Warren, Laurissa (Shane) Locke of Smethport, and Leah Anderson of Bradford, Erica, Benjamin and Kendall Anderson, all of Allenwood, Jeremiah Miller and Amy Miller, both of Bradford; five great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Donald and Edward Anderson, all of Warren, Silas and Oliver Locke, both of Smethport; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leon Anderson; and one grandson, Garrick Anderson.
Family will be receiving friends on Thursday January 3, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 E. Main Street, and again on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. in the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, at which time funeral and committal services will be held with the Rev. David Bunnell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery in Coudersport.
