This is the final count for our Blue Star Mothers Christmas Care Packages for Christmas 2012! Four hundred and thirty-four young men and women received a small token of our love, respect and appreciation this Christmas.
We are thrilled to have been the vehicle through which this task was accomplished. You were all part of this with us and we sincerely thank you. You rose to the occasion with donations of goods, cards, letters and money that overwhelmed us. In fact, the donations kept coming even after our first schedule packing day, allowing us to reach our goal of sending a care package to every person on our list.
This is truly America at its finest: a military of the people, for the people and supported by the people.
Already the letters of thanks are coming from some of those who received packages. These notes of appreciation, expressed by those to whom we owe a debt of gratitude are filled with accounts of joy and sharing and happy memories of loved ones at home. What greater thanks can we imagine than to know that we have brightened the spirits of our military during this holiday season?
AGain, thank you for your part in this tremendous accomplishment. We could not have done it without you.
