Carol Slocum Jimerson, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Fairport, N.Y., died Friday, Dec 21, 2012, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.
Born on Jan. 11, 1933, in Rochester, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Evelyn Castle Slocum. She was married in 1979, in Fairport, N.Y., to Vernon "Barney'' Jimerson who survives.
Mrs. Jimerson co-owned and operated Apple Moving in Fairport, N.Y.
She was a member of the Joshua Slocum Society and executive secretary of the Canandaigua Treaty Society.
Surviving are three daughters: Debra (Dick Flynn) Dyer, Rochester, N.Y.; Susan Dyer, Juneau, Alaska; and Tracy Dyer Wowk, Fairport, N.Y.; two sons: Christopher (Shelli) Dyer, Venice, Fla; and Ellery (Lauri) Dyer, Topsfield, Mass.; four stepsons: Vernon "Skip" (Lori) Jimerson, Vancouver, Wash., John (Kathy) Jimerson, Lakewood, N.Y., Jim Knapp, Wellsville, N.Y., and Bruce Knapp, Elk Park, N.C.; two stepdaughters: June Jimerson, Jamestown, N.Y., and Yvonne Jimerson, Gowanda, N.Y; 40 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Kim) Slocum II, Rochester, N.Y; two sisters: Gale (Ivan) Hermanet, Fairport, N.Y., and Marilyn (Richard) Guernsey, South Wellsfleet, Mass.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins: including, Tom and Beverly Chisolm, Venice, Fla.
She was predeceased by two stepsons: Edward Jimerson and Gary Jimerson.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., on Friday, Jan. 4, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, N.Y.
