Tea Party Is Far From Dangerous

December 30, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

We feel we must respond to the letter obviously insinuating that the TEA Party is ''dangerous.'' It's amazing how successful many government officials and the media have been in twisting the truth and confusing the general public about this ''grassroots movement.'' Taxed Enough Already - that's what brought this group of citizens together in the first place! Politicians (both Republicans and Democrats) have been recklessly spending our money for decades and passing pieces of legislation that are affecting all of us (and quite often lining their own pockets as well as their friends). Most of us have been silent, unaware, or apathetic while this has been taking place. Now American is in a financial crisis ... It stares us in the face. More importantly, it is staring down at our children and grandchildren and beyond that. We can't continue to ''kick the can down the road'' and leave them with a crisis we are responsible for. It's the greed and corruption that needs to be addressed whether it/s the greed of a fraudulent welfare recipient or the CEO of a corporation.

Many of us have similar values such as treasuring life from the baby in the womb to the elderly and more fragile among us. We all agree we need to pay more attention to what our politicians are doing (so of course, they want to discredit and get rid of us.) Moe citizens need to get involved whether it be on a school board, town or county board, or just monitoring those in service in government right up to and including the president. (Political office - intended to be a season of temporary service - not a lucrative career.)

Taxed Enough Already - grassroots movement to hold our politicians accountable for the decisions they are making that are affecting all of our lives everyday and working to turn our nation away from financial catastrophe. Is that what is considered dangerous in America now? God help us!
