Ironmen Defenseman Named Star Of Week

December 28, 2012
The Post-Journal

The North American Hockey League has named Jamestown Ironmen defenseman Aaron Scheppelman as the North Division Star of the Week.

Now in his third season with the Ironmen franchise, Scheppelman, 20, has been a pillar of strength and consistency along the blueline. The native of Hanover, Mich. has done what his coaches have asked each season with this season and more specifically this past week, being the perfect example.

Although Scheppelman had registered just five points, three of them came this past weekend as the first-place Ironmen posted a weekend home sweep of the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings. In Friday's 3-2 shootout win, the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder assisted on both goals in regulation for Jamestown. In Saturday's 3-2 overtime win, Scheppelman picked up another assist. He was also plus 3 during the weekend sweep.

Scheppelman becomes the fourth Ironmen to earn Star of the Week honors this season. Teammates previously honored include forwards Nico Sierra, Tyler Dunagan and Daniel Cesarz.

The Ironmen are currently on their holiday break and will return to action with a pair of games on Jan. 4-5 on the road in Janesville.

The Ironmen will return home to the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena the following weekend to host a three-game series, including a pair of games against the division foe, Soo Eagles. Jamestown is currently tied for first atop the North Division with the Eagles as they both boast a 21-8-3 record.

Jamestown's next home games will take place on Friday Jan. 11 at 7 p.m., Saturday Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. (both against the Soo Eagles) and Sunday Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. (against the Port Huron Fighting Falcons).

Saturday, Jan.12 will be Kid's Club Day where members will receive Ironmen gear, a complimentary ticket to the game and are invited to skate with the players after the game. To register a child for the Ironmen Kid's Club, call 716-484-2624 for more information.
