JHS Girls Knock Off Randolph

ST. BONAVENTURE - A first-quarter surge carried Jamestown High School (5-1) to a first-round girls basketball victory in the International Approved Basketball Officials Tournament on Thursday.

Jamestown jumped to a 21-8 lead in the first quarter and went on to post a 63-48 win over Randolph (6-2). The Red Raiders will face the winner of the Bradford-Olean clash at 4:15 p.m. today for the championship at the Reilly Center.

Annie Campion had seven points with a 3-pointer and Olivia Nugent added a pair of treys in the first eight minutes for the Lady Red Raiders.

Nugent finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, Chrisanna Green tossed in 10 points and Campion nine in the win.

Green led in rebounds with nine and had seven steals while Rosa Velazquez added five assists for the victors.

Mandy Finch connected for 22 points and McKenna Maycock contributed 21 for Randolph. Finch also grabbed nine rebounds and Maycock six. Maycock also had five steals.
