VALU Makes Donation

December 23, 2012
The Post-Journal

VALU Home Centers recently donated proceeds of its "Give A Gift That Could Save A Life" campaign to the Salvation Army.

Michael A. Ervolina Jr., president of VALU Home Centers, presented a $45,120 check to Major Thomas Applin for The Salvation Army. The check represents VALU's donation from the sale of carbon monoxide and natural gas alarms throughout the company's 41 retail locations.

VALU sold more than 9,000 of the alarms. With locations throughout Western New York, Central New York and Northwest Pennsylvania, VALU sold the alarms for $24.97 each and donated $5 from each kit to The Salvation Army. All money raised will remain in the communities where it was collected. VALU has now donated more than $520,000 through the 12-year promotion.
