MAYVILLE - Anthony Robert Taglianetti II pleaded innocent Wednesday morning in front of Chautauqua County Court Judge John T. Ward in the murder of Clymer Schools Superintendent Keith Reed Jr.

Taglianetti has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Reed, who was found shot to death outside his Clymer home in September.

Bail for Taglianetti, who is being represented by Ned Barone, county public defender, was set at $2.5 million or $5 million in real property.

Barone in a news conference afterward criticized Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace and David Foley, county district attorney, for "charging and convicting Taglianetti" before a trial had begun.

A pre-motion conference has been scheduled for Jan. 28, 2013.

Reed's brother was present Wednesday at arraignment, but declined to speak to reporters.
