A Family In?Need

Harley Owners’ Group Makes Donation To Area Family

December 18, 2012
The Post-Journal

The Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group, sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Jamestown, made a $500 donation to Naomi Zazquez-Santiago, a child fighting recurrent Ewing's Sarcoma, during a benefit held at the Cattaraugus Fire Department.

Naomi has been given only a month to a month-and-a-half to live and her family is very concerned about the pending funeral costs. Daily treatments at Roswell in Buffalo, co-pays and bills have put Naomi's family at a great financial disadvantage. The Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group's donation will help offset the funeral costs.

The Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group chapter is active with the Kids and Cancer Benefit Run, an annual dice run that kicks off in Bradford, Pa., at the Zippo manufacturing plant and takes motorcycle riders on a scenic tour of the Kinzua Dam-Allegheny National Forest areas with the goal of raising money for cancer fighters. The Kids and Cancer Committee as a whole has donated more than $200,000 to individuals, medical facilities and cancer-related organizations since 1998. The group raises money by selling giveaway tickets for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Each year, the Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group chapter donates a portion of the money to a child cancer patient or recovering cancer patient in need.

The motion to name Naomi recipient of the monies was passed recently at the Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group Christmas party. Clyde Houser, Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group member, passed around an article he read in a local newspaper about Naomi's cause. Her story touched the hearts of members and action was swiftly taken to contact the Cattaraugus Fire Department and Naomi's family.

To make a charitable contribution to Naomi and her family, call the Cattaraugus Fire Department at 257-5648 or send a donation in her name to the Cattaraugus Fire Department, 24 Memorial Drive, Cattaraugus, NY 14719.

The Chautauqua-Kinzua H.O.G. Chapter was established in February 2010. Sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Jamestown, the chapter has more than 120 active members. The Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group's mission is to organize a group of individuals for the purpose of safe and enjoyable motorcycle riding, as well as foster camaraderie among members. The Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners' Group has pledged to donate a portion of their time and money to those who are less fortunate.
