FALCONER - The Southwestern Trojan wrestling team went 3-2 overall to finish in fifth place at the 10-team Falconer Duals on Saturday.
Leading the Trojans with undefeated (5-0) individual records were seventh-grader Giuseppe Hoose (99-106 pounds), Ryan Hetrick (99-106), Dylan Lundmark (120-126) and Brian Westerdahl (145-152).
Southwestern finished in third place in its pool; going 2-2 with wins against Maple Grove and Cassadaga Valley. Southwestern's losses came to Warren and Cattaraugus-Little Valley/Pine Valley.
Hetrick, who increased his overall season record to 15-0, sealed the victory against Maple Grove with a key major decision with a 9-1 score over A.J. Putt at 99.
Lundmark and Westerdahl earned key pins in the victory over Cassadaga Valley along with Tanner Hoose (170) avenging a loss from last season with a close decision of Eben Torres.
The Trojans then went on to defeat Randolph in the overall fifth-place match, 45-42. With the match tied at 42-42, Joey Lindberg at 138 sealed the victory for Southwestern with a decision of Austin Schapp in the last match of the dual.
Another key victory in the Randolph match was by freshman, Nick Mest earning his first varsity victory with a pin at 152.
