Jayhawks Swim To Victory At Own Invite

Jamestown Community College's swim teams won the combined JCC Invitational on Saturday afternoon with 705 points compared to SUNY Delhi with 529 points, Mercyhurst North East with 230 points and Alfred State College with 155 points.

The women's team dominated the action with 427 points, Mercyhurst-North East with 203 points and SUNY Delhi with 162 points.

SUNY Delhi took the men's competition with 367 points followed by JCC with 278 points, Alfred State College with 155 points and Mercyhurst-North East with 27 points.

The JCC women took eight firsts with Emily Holt winning three events and Kelsey Akin two.

Holt won the 100 freestyle (1:02.71), 200 freestyle (2:14.15) and 500 freestyle (6:02.51). Meanwhile, Akin took the 50 freestyle (28.46) and 100 backstroke (1:10.08).

The other wins were by Hannah Grable in diving with 127.85 points, Allison Chitester in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 22.37.79 and the 400 freestyle relay of Chitester, Holt, Akin and Sarah Madison. Together they posted a time of 4:13.90.

For the men, John Trombetta tripled and Derek Hosier doubled as JCC finished second to SUNY Delhi.

Trombetta captured the 100 breaststroke (1:10.95), the 50 freestyle (23.73) and the 100 freestyle (53.64) while Hosier claimed firsts in the 500 freestyle (5:46.55) and 1,650 freestyle (21.48.98).

Victor Hallett won the 200 freestyle (2:02.91) and Tom Prinzi the 200 individual medley (2:25.44). The 400 freestyle relay (3:49.73), comprised of Hallett, Nick Burt, Prinzi and Trombetta, was also victorious.
