FALCONER - The Falconer Golden Falcons placed third at the Falconer Duals among 10 teams on Saturday at Falconer Central School.

Lake Shore beat Warren, 38-29, in the championship bout with Falconer losing a heart-breaker in the semifinals to Lake Shore, 33-31.

That brought Falconer into a contest with Cattaraugus-Little Valley for consolation honors and the Golden Falcons prevailed easily, 60-13, with a number of pins.

The Golden Falcons had three sub-minute falls by Dan Williamson (182) in 48 seconds over Craig Dolling, Javen Newman (285) in 54 seconds over Josh Hammond and Jake Peru (113) in 58 seconds over Courtney Fleming.

Falconer also recorded pins by Ricky Griffiths at 106 pounds over Sam Ritchie in 3:07, Brandon Muntz (132) over Gabe Gray in 1:32, Kyle Ross (138) over Dylan Rhinehart in 3:48 and Tim Franzen (126) over Logan Martin in 4:31.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley received a fall in 40 seconds by Alex Kelly (160) over Mike Alexander.

The pool standings showed Lake Shore winning Pool A with a 5-0 record followed by Falconer at 4-1, Randolph at 2-3 , Salamanca at 1-4 and Panama at 0-5.

Warren took Pool B with a 4-1 record. Cattaraugus-Little Valley was at 3-2, Southwestern at 3-2, Cassadaga Valley at 2-3 and Maple Grove at 1-4.

The event was put together hastily by the Falconer Boosters to replace the Holiday Classic.

The tourney has been held for 27 years, but this year they didn't have a place to hold the event. Jamestown Community College, last year's site, was holding the annual Post-Journal Classic for men's basketball and the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena was hosting the nationally televised Progressive Skating and Gymnastics, so, the Falconer Boosters took over the event.
