The Jamestown Community College men's basketball team will be seeking its third straight Post-Journal Classic title when the event begins today at JCC.
At 4 p.m., the host Jayhawks will play Westmoreland County CC from Youngwood, Pa., and at 6 p.m., Columbus State CC from Columbus, Ohio, will take on Monroe CC from Rochester.
The consolation game is on Sunday at noon followed by the championship game at 2 p.m.
Columbus State and Monroe are making their third appearances in the tournament and it is the fourth for Westmoreland County.
Columbus State and Westmoreland County were scheduled to play in the 2011 Post-Journal Classic, but it had to be canceled when the third visiting team was unable to attend.
The Jayhawks defeated JCC-Olean in the 2009 title game and won in overtime against Baltimore City CC in the 2010 championship contest.
The Jayhawks have won the championship seven times and they've been second eight times.
JCC, like Columbus State and Monroe, is an NJCAA Division II team, and comes into the tournament with a 7-5 record.
Westmoreland County, an NJCAA Division III team, is 5-3.
Columbus State is 7-3 and Monroe, which is second in the NJCAA Division II rankings, is 11-1.
Honest John's Restaurant and Pizzeria will be providing pizza for all four teams on Saturday, and on Sunday, the three visiting teams will receive a complimentary meal at McDonald's.
Trophies for the first- and second-place teams and plaques for the most valuable player and the five other members of the all-tournament team were donated by The Trophy House.
