Lawrence Utegg, 76, of Findley Lake, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Erie Veterans Affair Medical Center Hospice Unit, after a very valiant and courage battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Ripley, N.Y., the youngest of nine children to the late Herman and Elva McGill Utegg.
Lawrence graduated Ripley High School in 1954, and served in the United States Army for 2 1/2 years, stationed in Germany (1961 to 1962).

He was formerly employed as an assembler at Taccones, Millco, AMS, and National Fab and Machine for 35 years, until retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed bowling, golf, boating, fishing, and road trips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Utegg, killed in action during World War II, Charles, Herman, and Arthur Utegg; sisters, Elsie Grazioso and Delvina Maring Sprague.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Wilkinson Utegg, whom he married Aug. 17, 1974, at the Ripley United Methodist Church; a brother, Fred Utegg; a sister, Eleanor Batts Bane; in-laws: Adaline Utegg, David and Norma Youngs, Burton and Ruby Kimbell and Janice Lindsey; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St., North East, on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jacquie Rhodes will officiate. Interment will be in Quincy Cemetery with full military honors.
