Undefeated Beaver County Knocks Off Jayhawks Again

MONACA, Pa. -The Community College of Beaver County showed why it is ranked sixth on the NJCAA Division II men's basketball poll on Tuesday night.

CCBC moved its record to 9-0 by defeating Jamestown CC, 87-58, behind 22 points from Juan Stewart and 21 points from Andre Anthony.

The loss dropped JCC to 7-5 and was just its second loss, both to CCBC, in its last eight games.

Stewart and Anthony did most of the scoring in the second half with Stewart sinking 13 points and Anthony 11 points.

The Jayhawks trailed, 46-26, at the halftime and never got close after intermission.

JCC made 18 of 32 from the foul line with Tyreek Jewell and Davonte Dunham swishing seven apiece.

Jewell led the Jayhawks with 16 points while Calvin Sterling had 13 and Dunham 12.

The Jayhawks return to action on Saturday when they host The Post-Journal Classic. At 4 p.m., JCC will play Westmoreland County CC from Youngwood, Pa., followed by Columbus State CC from Columbus, Ohio, playing Monroe CC from Rochester at 6. Monroe is second in the NJCAA Division II rankings.

The consolation game is Sunday at noon and the championship game is at 2 p.m.
