''Never before have I been involved in a tie,''said coach Nancy Feenstra after Jamestown tied Sweet Home, 90-90, in the Division 1 boys swimming opener of the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Friday night.
The meet came down to the final event the 400 freestyle relay with Sweet Home taking first place (3:46.4) with eight points and the Red Raiders with four points for second place and two more points for third. That meant a tie for both teams.
Allan Smith doubled for Jamestown in the 200 freestyle (1:52.86) and 100 butterfly (59.5) and Matthew Caldwell also doubled in 200 individual medley (2:17.51) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.53).
Andrew Caldwell, Matthew Caldwell's brother, won the 100 backstroke (1:55).
Kevin Murray of Sweet Home won the 100 freestyle (54.62) and the 50 freestyle (24.66).
