Ida V. Paterniti, 100, formerly of 46 Howard St., Jamestown, passed away at 3 a.m. Monday (Dec. 3, 2012), in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Feb. 20, 1912, in Lakewood, N.Y., a daughter of the late John and Rachel Maione Bellar-do.
She was a graduate of Jamestown High School.

Before her retirement years, she was employed by Benson's Ladies Apparel for several years. In earlier years, she had worked for the former Zuckerman's as well as several other stores in the Jamestown area.
She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. James. She was also a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Her other memberships included the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary, the Jamestown Women of the Moose, the Disabled American Veterans Auxili-ary and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She also served as an election inspector for Chautauqua County for many years working out of the Kidder Church location.
During her sons' years in school, she was very active in the Parent Teacher Association at Fletcher Elemen-tary School and Jefferson Jr. High School. She was also an officer for the Western New York District of the Parent Teacher Asso-ciation.
Surviving are two sons: Richard A. (Lucia) Paterniti of Ferndale, Md., and Ronald A. Paterniti of Jamestown; two grandsons: Antonio D. Paterniti of Baltimore, Md., and Gian Pao-lo Paterniti of Ferndale, Md.; as well as several nieces and nephews from the Bellardo and Paterniti families.
She was preceded in death by her husband An-thony N. Paterniti, whom she married Sept. 5, 1936, and who died Feb. 5, 1988; three sisters: Mary Colabel-lo, Rose Massaro and Louise Vullo; and three brothers: Joseph, John and Michael Bellardo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant. Entomb-ment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mau-soleum.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 2 p.m. Thursday.
