Dessa E. Jenckel

KENNEDY - Dessa E. Jenckel, 92, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y.

She was born September 5, 1920, in Ellicottville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Henry F. and Edith M. (Smallman) Jenckel.

Dessa worked in a factory as a general worker and in the service business as a waitress for a short period of time. She was a life member of the Smyrna Delaware VFW Post 8801.

In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, dancing, bowling, and playing cards. In later years, she enjoyed her flowers, gambling and searching for bargains at the Salvation Army.

She is survived by three sons: David and Judy Snyder of Leon, N.Y., Cecil and Bonita Snyder of Cherry Creek, N.Y. and Dale and Donna Snyder of Kennedy, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands: Cecil Snyder Sr., Arthur Smallcomb and James R. Truitt Jr., her daughter Donna Snyder Milliman, her granddaughter Michelle Snyder, her great-grandson Theodore Moore and her three sisters: Martha Parsell Kohler, Mary Green Eastman and Leona Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at 8 p.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, N.Y.. Thomas Maynard will be officiating.

Visitation will be held the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to WCA Hospital Floor Four D, 207 Foote Ave, Jamestown NY 14701.
